Over the course of a day of taking portraits of seniors in Pawtucket and Central Falls for Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island, I met and photographed a series of friendly, funny, smart and grateful people.
Daily meals aren't the only thing that Meals on Wheels clients look forward to. Many of them are waiting at the door for the cheerful greetings and quick conversation their delivery person brings along with the food.
Each person I met was immediately welcoming, inviting me into their home and generously allowing me to photograph them.
Remarkably, no one needed to warm up to the camera, a rare thing on a shoot where I'm a complete stranger to my subjects. These women and men were poised and genuine, qualities that shine through in their portraits.
